Strategic Partners is seeking an experienced and proactive Formulation Manager on behalf of our client, a company dedicated to developing innovative pharmaceutical solutions for special patient populations. The ideal candidate will lead the research and development of oral liquid formulations—primarily addressing the needs of pediatric, geriatric, and dysphagic patients.
This strategic role encompasses formulation development, technology transfer, vendor coordination, and CMC documentation. The Formulation Manager will work cross-functionally with Regulatory Affairs, Quality, and Business Development teams to bring patient-centric products from concept to market.
Key Responsibilities
Formulation & Product Development
- Lead the development of oral liquid dosage forms (solutions, suspensions, emulsions, drops, etc.).
- Design stable, user-friendly formulations for special populations (pediatric, geriatric).
- Supervise lab-scale and pilot-scale batches; interpret analytical and stability data.
- Oversee process development, scale-up, and technology transfer to CDMOs.
- Author and review reports for Module 3 (Quality) and related technical documentation.
Project & Outsourcing Management
- Manage all R&D stages from early development to Marketing Authorization submission.
- Develop and maintain project timelines and budgets.
- Coordinate with external partners including formulators, CROs, and CDMOs.
- Collaborate with bioequivalence study providers to align formulation requirements.
Regulatory & Quality Support
- Partner with Regulatory Affairs to support CMC dossier sections and technical justifications.
- Ensure compliance with GMP, ICH, EMA, and pharmacopoeial guidelines.
- Support Quality Assurance in investigations and documentation related to development and transfer activities.
Scientific Leadership & Innovation
- Track industry developments in oral liquid formulations and suggest innovations.
- Evaluate excipients, delivery systems, and formulation strategies for differentiation and IP positioning.
- Collaborate with Business Development on product positioning strategies.
Candidate Profile & Qualifications
✔ Education:
- BSc or MSc in Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, or Chemical Engineering.
- Postgraduate specialization in formulation development or industrial pharmacy is highly desirable.
✔ Experience:
- At least 5 years of R&D experience in the oral liquid pharmaceutical sector.
- Proven hands-on experience in formulation, scale-up, and CMC documentation.
- Project management experience working with CDMOs and CROs.
✔ Skills & Competencies:
- Deep understanding of oral liquid formulation science, excipients, and stability challenges.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication in English and Greek.
- Familiarity with regulatory and quality documentation requirements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with project management tools is a plus.
